The Chronicle of Higher Education seeks an enterprising, adaptable reporter for Vitae, a new start-up that aims to be the world’s premier destination for information about academic careers.As part of a five-person editorial team, this reporter will have a chance to make a mark in a variety of ways. He or she will:— Conceive and report pieces that help students, scholars, and administrators navigate the higher-education workplace.— Aggregate news, advice, and commentary from around the Web for a dynamic daily content stream.— Spearhead our multimedia and interactive reporting through live chats, audio presentations, and data projects.— Assist the editorial team in managing social-media accounts and tracking site analytics.The Chronicle is looking for an engaging storyteller who can comfortably inhabit the mind of an academic early in his or her career. Clear, smart writing with a strong voice is essential, as is a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Candidates must be conversant with digital media and Web-based reporting tools. Personal experience in graduate school, or knowledge of key issues in higher education, is a big plus. Most importantly, the candidate should be eager to work in a fast-changing start-up environment.
