Local Sales Manager
This is a Full-Time, Non-Union, Exempt PositionKWQC-TV6 seeks a Local Sales Manager. We are a dominant NBC affiliate, serving Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. As the Quad Cities #1 station in news, information, and entertainment programming, KWQC-TV6 needs a visionary to lead an experienced staff of sales professionals to exceed revenue goals across multiple platforms. General Summary: The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with successful sales team building and sales coaching experience. The Local Sales Manager will ensure Local and Regional revenue goal achievement through planning, establishing systems for success, arranging appropriate training, and accountability for team members to insure positive results. Core Functions:•Reports directly to the General Sales Manager and works collaboratively with the Digital Sales Manager.•Establishes ambitious, aggressive yet obtainable Local revenue goals. •Assists in inventory management to maximize sales and meet revenue objectives.•Recommends and manages effective Local Sales initiatives and programs to compensate, coach, appraise, train and hold local team members responsible for results.Responsibilities:•Builds client centric relationships within the advertising community to heighten KWQC’s local community value.•Achieves and exceeds local revenue budgets and develops the maximum income for the station through the proper staffing, management, training, motivation, and administration of the Local Sales Staff.•Develops the maximum income for the station on a daily basis by successfully and effectively managing the sales process for commercials, programs, sports, specials, special projects, and promotions to both existing and new local and regional advertisers.•Constantly strives to improve local revenue on an ongoing basis with an emphasis on creating, identifying, developing and executing profitable special projects, promotions, or unique new revenue streams which result in KWQC revenue growing faster than the market.•Maintains an active working knowledge of current and historical market ratings and competitive pricing trends as they pertain to increasing KWQC local revenue and market share while maximizing inventory, ratings, and demographic cost per point levels.•Assists the General Sales Manager in determining rates and sales strategies as well as recommending and implementing inventory control systems in order to maximize inventory and overall station revenue.•Maintains internal relations with specific regard to morale while reflecting and projecting a desirable image of KWQC-TV6 to the local sales department, national rep firm, the Quad Cities, and the broadcast industry.•Holds regular meetings with sales staff and makes sure communication of sales opportunities are well thought out and disseminated.Qualifications: •The right candidate has a strong intellectual curiosity and sense of wonder about how our business works and isn’t afraid of new concepts and ideas.•Prefer a minimum of 5 -7 years’ experience in broadcast television sales, with a strong background in agency, local sales, internet, digital sales and related positions.•Must be an accomplished sales executive with proven success in delivering consistent and sustainable increases in revenue and market share.•Ideal candidate will be a strong negotiator, with experience in building deep-rooted relationships with the national and local buying community and be able to demonstrate a track record of developing incremental revenue above and beyond the RFP. •Strong understanding of television ratings and pricing tools.•Strong understanding of key performance metrics for internet and digital sales.•Computer literate with knowledge of various Microsoft and TV sales software systems. •College degree is preferred and a valid driver's license is required.At a minimum, application materials should include:•Cover letter•Resume detailing background and skillsAt a minimum, application materials should include:•Cover letter•Resume detailing background and skillsPlease indicate in your correspondence exactly where you heard of this opening.
