SC Magazine, a Haymarket Media publication, is in the market for an Executive Editor to work in its New York office. What is SC Magazine? And it's never been more important to the pros who specialize in defending their organizations against these online attacks to have an independent information resource that gives them much-needed news, features, product reviews and events to help them tackle their day-to-day responsibilities more effectively.The executive editor we desire will be dedicated to supporting SC Magazine's long-standing position as the leading brand in the information security marketplace, helping to maintain the award-winning publication's reputation for strongly-written, objective, leading-edge articles in the magazine and on the website; its online eConferences, eSymposia and webcasts; its live events, including SC Congress conferences and expos and its SC Awards program; supplementary editorial offerings, such as its SC Spotlights and eBooks; and much more. As executive editor, which reports into SC Magazine's vice-president of editorial, this experienced pro will lead SC’s award-winning editorial team, coordinating and also, at times, creating editorial output against the guidelines and standards already set for the brand’s various editorially related products and other related offerings. All content will funnel through this pro, receiving the editor’s final approval before being shared with the VP of editorial for a last review. Ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the magazine’s editorial operations, this editorial leader will work with current long-time SC Magazine editorial, he/she also will interact with a pool of freelancers and other SC Magazine departments, such as events, marketing or sales staff. In addition to editing and writing responsibilities of news, features and other content on the website and in the magazine, the executive editor will contribute heavily to the development of the annual editorial calendar, providing ideas for online and live event sessions; oversee and contribute to design and layout ideas for the magazine and website; help devise various messages for social media pages; etc. Additionally, this pro will have a visible role aiding in the moderation of both online and live events; coordinating the recording and uploading of podcasts, online videos and blog entries; submitting ideas for special current and new SC Magazine editions, and more. Outreach and branding activities will be a critical component of this role as well, with the executive editor attending and participating in industry events beyond SC’s.
