OVERALL SUMMARY

HBO Business Information and Technology Systems (BITS) seeks a Manager to oversee the Corporate Systems group. The primary focus will be supporting vendor packaged applications used by various HBO business units, and corporate functions such as Payroll/Personnel, Legal, Security, Real Estate & Facilities, POS software, and internal BITS functions. The person in this role must possess excellent people, and client relationship management skills, and partner closely with business clients to provide solutions meeting business objectives. The position is based in New York reporting to a Director in Los Angeles.

The Manager is required to have strong skills in managing staff, managing multiple business groups, excellent interpersonal skills, strong presentation skills, and strong leadership skills. The manager must also possess strong project management, and business analysis skills, along with a technical background supporting packages.


The successful candidate must be effective in:
• Interacting with business clients, vendors and technical staff members to achieve desirable project results.
• Balancing multiple projects and aggressive timelines.
• Demonstrating proficiency in meeting management and conflict resolution.
• Communicating the status, benefits, and the impact of projects on business strategy.
• Identifying opportunities for improvement.


Duties will include:
• Evaluation and recommendation of the new technical solutions, (packages or in-house development).
• Managing all phases of full life cycle projects.
• Developing and monitoring the project plans for each project.
• Engaging with the technical teams throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle to deliver the solution.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review third-party software products and recommend potential vendors and develop integration strategies
• Support all phases of project management including budgeting, task execution and change management
• Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams through meeting and progress measurement activity which bring distinct, specific projects to completion both on time and within budget.
• Estimate resource and participants needed to achieve project goals.
• Draft and submit budget proposals.
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
• Educate clients about technology capabilities and advocate client interests within IT.
• Ability to define and document business processes and functional requirements.
• Coordinate application troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Deliver program status reporting to the business clients and IT Sr. Leadership
• Participate in the team’s project portfolio planning and prioritization.
• Prepare team goals, provide mentoring and feedback, including preparing and reviewing twice yearly performance reviews.


REQUIREMENTS

• A self-starter, able to work in a new business environment, recognizing shifting priorities and demands.
• 3+ years working as a Project Lead or Manager in an IT organization.
• 3+ years of managing staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead teams, interact with clients, and work collaboratively across an IT organization.
• Skilled in tools and techniques for selecting/implementing vendor products.
• Skilled in requirement gathering tools and techniques.
• Skilled in business process redesign tools and techniques.
• Strong knowledge of application design and configuration.
• Highly skilled in testing development and execution.
• Accomplished in training development and delivery.
• Demonstrated mastery of troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Fully knowledgeable of business continuity and/or disaster recovery for supported systems.
• Strong time management and multitasking skills.
• Strong understanding of standard Software Delivery Life Cycle methodology.
• Media related industry experience would be a plus.
• Ability to work and manage across a multi-location environment and report to management located remotely in a different time zone.
• Expert with Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, Visio & PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree.
