The Role:

Bloomberg is seeking a talented graphic designer to join the Visual Data team. The team leverages the company’s unparalleled data, analytics and editorial content to create brand-differentiating interactive data products for Bloomberg’s global business consumer audience. The graphic designer will report to the Design Director and will design and develop engaging interactive data products. We are looking for a creative, multi-disciplinary team player who can work in an open and collaborative environment. The successful applicant must have strong creative and technology experience, and take a role in the granular design work for current and future Bloomberg interactive data products.

In addition to a thorough grounding in graphic design, the candidate must be demonstrate an ability to work with and draw insights from large data sets in order to conceptualize, develop and produce innovative and compelling data visualizations, creatively and effectively mining the huge data sets available to Bloomberg. The ideal candidate should be a conceptual thinker; have an innovative design portfolio and show meticulous attention to typographic detail; and the ability to produce and communicate creative design for colleagues, clients, and senior executives.

· 2+ years of design experience, preferably in data visualization
· BFA in graphic design, interaction design, product design, or related field
· Data research and analysis skills and demonstrated ability to develop strong and rigorous conceptual frameworks for interactive products
· Experience in working with media across platforms including web, desktop, mobile, tablets and video
· Experience in developing different types of visualizations, including narrative, editorially-guided visualizations; visualizations for interactive data exploration; and visual analytics
· Intellectual curiosity about business, financial, and economic topics
· Familiarity with coding is a plus (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, Ruby, Node.js)
