The senior search strategist at The Garrigan Lyman Group (GLG) is an analytical, creative, extremely detail-oriented person who can work independently and has excellent communication skills. The position is deeply involved in the day-to-day management of multiple client accounts focusing on search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), analytics, and the creation and presenting of reports to clients. The position will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to execute campaigns in line with the goals, budgets, and needs of our clients. The senior search strategist will identify new project opportunities for existing and potential clients and assist in business development meetings and proposal creation. This person will be expected to take the initiative in learning about changes in the industry, researching, documenting best practices, and being a leader in the setting of team goals. Key attributes will be to identify opportunities and issues in SEO and SEM, and to create and execute solutions to advance the practice and increase client success.

Key responsibilities/accountabilities

-Management of day-to-day operations for search clients (SEO, SEM).
-Development of meaningful client relationships by investigating clients’ business goals and developing/executing an appropriate search strategy.
-Identification and presentation of opportunities—translating client data into actionable information for reporting/presentations.
-Demonstrated ability to execute solutions to identified opportunities.
-Well-developed ability to produce site audits, which are foundational to the SEO practice.
-Strong experience with online business models and advertising tactics.
-Advanced understanding of Google/Bing ranking factors and on-site SEO.
-Understanding of front-end web development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
-Experience in multiple search engine interfaces and tools, using advanced Excel analysis.
-Assembling and presenting scheduled client reporting.
-Continuously optimizing SEM budgets, campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ad copy to meet/exceed client ROI goals.
-Optimizing and presenting SEO recommendations (such as core keyword research, drafting meta data, website recommendations to enhance SEO, etc.).
-Showing leadership and interest in following search industry knowledge and trends.
-Assisting with client billing/reconciliation.

Experience and qualifications

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to prepare clear and concise client-ready documents
-Able to initiate and handle five to 10 new business leads per quarter
-Advanced Excel capabilities
-Current Google AdWords certification
-Bing Ads accredited professional
-Current Google Analytics certification
-Comfortable fostering professional development for junior members of the team
-Able to deliver results and a curious, inquisitive nature are necessary for success
-Able to assist with overall sales strategies
-Can communicate and work with VP-level clients (or above)
-Self-starter, self-motivator, and able to work with minimal supervision
-A flexible and collaborative work style required
-Able to handle change with ease
-Can challenge existing processes and initiate new solutions
-Outstanding time management and presentation skills
-Experience with marketing automation software, email marketing strategy and measurement, and/or content strategy a plus
-4+ years of professional search agency experience or equivalent
BA/BS in marketing, advertising, communications, or business
