SC Magazine, a Haymarket Media information resource and publication, is in the market for a Production Editor for its UK brand, who would be based in its New York office.

What is SC Magazine? Well, let us ask you: Have you ever had a friend whose hacked Facebook account sent out spam? Ever received a letter from your bank that your credit card number was compromised? Ever get a phishing email asking you to click on something that looked real, but actually was a ploy to infect your computer with a virus?

Cyber crime is one of the fastest-growing criminal activities in the world. And it's never been more important to the pros who specialize in defending their organizations against these online attacks to have an independent information resource that gives them much-needed news, features, product reviews and events to help them tackle their day-to-day responsibilities more effectively.

To help with this mission, SC Magazine UK needs a talented, organized and motivated production editor to assist in the planning and assembly of the bi-monthly print magazine and its daily website. Again, the position will be based in the New York office.

On the editorial side, this role requires a combination of production and editing capabilities to support the editor-in-chief. We seek a hands-on, take-charge person to assist in the planning and production of the bi-monthly UK edition of SC Magazine, as well as keep the associated website updated and interesting to entice readers to visit throughout the day.

The production editor must edit copy with a fine eye. Stories must be readable and engaging. A hands-on pro, then, must edit and re-write as necessary, ensuring that stories make sense, spelling is accurate, names and titles are verified, etc.

The position requires an organized taskmaster, who can keep track of the various bits that comprise each issue. This involves soliciting columns from guest contributors, assembling business news, requesting photos of sources, making sure assignments are handed in on time from staff and freelancers, and generally processing all materials to compose each page of the magazine.

The production editor will also update the website, entering features and news items into the company's custom-built CMS. As well, this pro also will ensure that the brand's social media sites are updated with insight and information frequently to help grow SC's audience even further.

On the art side, know-how and responsibilities run the gamut. Just some:

- Attention to detail and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required. Too, advanced InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator skills are required

- Works well both independently and collaboratively

- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic

- Develop original design concepts and deliver polished visual designs

- Highly organized and able to prioritize

- Collaborate closely with the art and editorial staffs

- Advanced layout and typography skills

- Strong design skills and appropriate creativity

- Strong organization, time-management, decision-making, attention to detail and interpersonal skills necessary

- Excellent communication and team-building skills

- A healthy respect for deadlines

The right applicant should have at least 5 to 10 years experience in consumer and/or business-to-business publishing and should be able to thrive in a fast-paced and highly creative environment.
