NYU SCPS is seeking a talented Front-End Web Developer to provide design and development support for the School’s public facing website: This position is part of the Web Communications team and collaborates closely with the Strategic Marketing and Communications and IT departments, as well as with external vendors, in the design, development, and support of the School’s web applications and software. The ideal candidate will utilize advanced problem-solving skills to understand web-related questions and resolve technical and design issues related to the web and system interdependencies. Must be articulate and display the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • * Work with senior developer to design and develop site components in Adobe Day CQ

  • * Tweak and modify designs on existing components based on requested specifications

  • * Troubleshoot issues with the design and functionality of components

  • * Create mockups and wireframes

  • * Test changes in development environment, build and deploy change packages to production

  • * Perform QA and UAT on multiple browsers and systems using testing software

  • * Assist Web Communications team with fielding issues/problem requests, help to resolve issues or forward to appropriate individual/department as needed

  • * Provide backup to senior developer during busy times or time off


  • * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Design and Development,or a related field

  • * 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination in front-end web technologies

  • * Experience with how the front-end impacts and interacts with back-end systems

  • * Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or similar design programs

  • * Javascript, jQuery, AJAX, XML

  • * Advanced knowledge of CSS inheritance and specificity

  • * Familiarity with Javascript libraries

  • * Java and JSP to perform backup and assistance to senior developer

  • * QA/UAT, particularly usability analysis, cross-browser issues

  • * MS Office Suite, Windows, Mac OS

  • * Adobe Day CQ knowledge

  • * Mobile optimization/development for future projects
