AFAR is seeking an enthusiastic assistant editor to join our San Francisco-based team. The assistant editor directs and manages writers, contributors, and other staff members in the creation and development of the magazine’s content. He/she will help develop and contribute to a new front-of-book section; help write and edit special packages; and contribute content to and help curate AFAR’s digital platforms. The ideal candidate should possess 4+ years of editorial experience, internships included.

Requirements:
Must have smart editorial instincts
Must have excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
Must be a proactive self-starter with a collaborative spirit
Must be both a workhorse and an ideas person who can work across departments
Must have established relationships with freelance writers and PR professionals
Must possess the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Must be familiar with InCopy, InDesign, and Wordpress
Must be detail-oriented and deadline-savvy
Must have a passion for travel, and be interested in conceptualizing new and interesting ways to look at travel
Must have a strong sense of humor
