We are looking for a creative, multi-disciplinary team player who can work in an open and collaborative environment. The successful applicant must have strong creative and technology experience, and take a role in the granular design work for current and future PRB data visualization products. The Graphic designer will join a team of communications professionals dedicated to producing high quality publications and developing a strong multimedia and online presence to inform people around the world about population, health, and the environment. S/he will conceive, design and produce data visualizations, including infographics (static and interactive) and motion graphics (animations), based on PRB publications, interviews with demographic experts, or news about demographic trends. S/he will also work with the communications team and other PRB staff to create graphics and illustrations for PRB’s print and online publications.

Primary Responsibilities
•Designs and produces data visualizations (infographics, motion graphics, etc.) in static, interactive, and animated formats
•Designs graphics and illustrations to be used in PRB website products and videos.
•Designs and produces interactive graphics using Tableau and other software and supports other staff learning and using the software.
•Assists Multimedia Producer during interview production and post-production.
•Assists in website updates.

Qualifications

•B.A. degree in graphic design, interaction design, product design, or related field or equivalent and 2+ years of design experience, preferably in data visualization and multimedia content development.
•Experience in developing different types of visualizations, including narrative, editorially-guided visualizations; visualizations for interactive data exploration; and visual analytics.
•Experience creating engaging and sophisticated animated pieces, especially ones that visualize complex concepts for a nontechnical audience.
•Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (CS6), particularly the following programs: After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop.
•Experience working with media across platforms including web, desktop, mobile, tablets and video.
•Demonstrated management, time management, and problem-solving skills to ensure smooth operation of all aspects of the job with a strong attention to detail.
•Knowledge and experience in using content management systems, such as Sitecore.
•Knowledge of Tableau helpful.
•Knowledge of French or Spanish helpful.
•Familiarity with coding is a plus (JavaScript, HTML/CSS)
