Job Description

We are currently seeking a bright, entrepreneurial individual to support our Associate Publisher. The Assistant to the Associate Publisher will have the unique opportunity to serve as the front lines of communications for the Associate Publisher and The Atlantic at this exciting time.

Responsibilities Include:

•Provide support for the Associate Publisher in The Atlantic’s New York office
•Assist in coordinating schedules and meetings and coordinate travel arrangements
•Serve as a representative of the Associate Publisher and The Atlantic brand in communications with colleagues and clients
•Prepare and proof documents and correspondence
•Opportunity for substantive and long-term project development
•Perform assorted administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, telephone coverage, and miscellaneous errands as needed
•Act as liaison between corporate headquarters in Washington, DC and the New York office

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

•Fluent in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Powerpoint
•Passion for publishing and media
•Effective time management and superior organization skills
•Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and appropriately prioritize
•Confidentiality with sensitive material and communication
•Comfort with ambiguity, urgency and self-direction
•Outstanding record of achievement in current and past positions
•Proactive rather than reactive approach and work ethic
•Superior service ethic and grace under pressure
•Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
•Creativity, persistence and tenacity
•Strong analytics and real-time judgment
•Bachelor’s degree
