The Opportunity:
Gallup’s Communications Team is looking for a savvy public relations professional to support the director of public relations and members of the team with a full range of public relations activities.

•Support communications plans, and initiate activities to reach aggressive team goals
•Serve as point of contact and manage/respond to daily inquiries from journalists
•Build and foster relationships with journalists and influencers
•Develop and maintain Gallup’s press lists and contact database
•Write targeted pitches and other press materials that lead directly to story placement
•Support director of public relations in building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to maintain a steady stream of content for publication and pitching
•Liaise with and support international communications partners
•Assist in setting up broadcast interviews, and coordinate with experts, reporters, and crew
•Support team in developing content for social media channels and corporate blogs
•Regularly monitor media mentions, and report coverage to internal stakeholders
•Develop regular coverage reports, and analyze findings for Gallup, its partners, and its clients
•Support team in response to urgent issues

The ideal candidate will be familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the public relations industry. This person will possess strong writing and editing skills, with a particular focus on persuasive writing. The candidate must have excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills and feel confident speaking with and responding to journalists. This person should have the ability to remain calm and execute in high-pressure situations, manage and prioritize competing deadlines, and have exceptional organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Cision or similar public relations software and have experience with Meltwater, TVEyes, or similar monitoring software.

A bachelor’s degree is required; degrees in communication or journalism are preferred, with two to three years of PR experience. An interest and understanding of data and current events is strongly preferred.
