The ideal candidate will be a publishing professional with at least
5 years of editorial experience at a publishing house or literary agency. The position reports directly to the editorial director of Running Press and is responsible for acquiring, editing, and managing projects for the Running Press list.


•Acquire nonfiction titles for the Running Press list in the areas of lifestyle, sports, memoir, pop-culture, humor, and narrative nonfiction.
•Effectively and efficiently coordinate all phases of the editorial process, from directing authors’ revisions, line-editing, and writing promotional copy.
•Present projects in key sales meetings.
•Maintain schedules and manage multiple projects and a variety of tasks simultaneously and independently.
•Collaborate and coordinate with other departments—including contracts, sales, design, marketing, publicity, and production—on all phases of publication process.


•At least 5 years publishing experience, with background in acquiring projects from a range of sources: literary agents, licensors, and non-agented sources.
•Some experience editing illustrated books.
•Possess strong contacts with literary agents.
•Creative thinker with the ability to brainstorm and generate ideas.
•Excellent communication skills, both for writing and presenting.
•An organized, detail- and deadline-oriented thinker—able to juggle several projects at the same time.
•Bachelor’s Degree
•Able to demonstrate proficiency in copyediting.
