Reporter / Researcher
Applicants must have a strong interest in journalism, especially business news, and be able to rapidly synthesize information and write concise memos. Attention to accuracy and the ability to multitask under daily deadlines is required. Building and maintaining good sources, a strong work ethic, taking directions well and working collaboratively with others is essential. Applicants should already be based in New York region. Main duties involve assisting a Japanese business news correspondent by covering press conferences, earning calls, tracking relevant news stories, arranging and conducting interviews, doing research, and covering events. Applicant may also be required to work various news areas besides business as the situation warrants. Rapid and precise transcription ability is required. [There are no byline opportunities in this position as the work involves reporting and researching for stories that will be written in Japanese].
