The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking an experienced communications professional to serve as its Deputy Communications Director. This position will be responsible for the USGLC’s state media outreach and coordination, electronic communications, and written Communications. The position will report to the Communications Director and reside in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities will include:

? State Media Outreach and Coordination—Develop media outreach plans for states where USGLC is expanding and growing, build relationships with reporters and bloggers in those states, create and identify media opportunities for state network leaders.

?Social Media Strategy – Assist in developing an overall strategy for social media within the organization, with existing and/or new tools, and integrate across all platforms, including Twitter and Facebook accounts.

? Written Communications – Draft op-eds, press releases, fact sheets, talking points and other communications materials, including a bi-weekly newsletter and regular blog postings.

? Electronic Communications Marketing – Write and develop effective electronic communications for all USGLC external audiences.

? Assist Communications Director – Provide support to the Communications Director in national media outreach, news monitoring, press for USGLC events and campaigns, and other assignments as necessary.

Position Requirements:
The position requires at least 3-5 years of media and communications experience in a Congressional office, non-profit organization, campaign, trade association, or similar environment. Excellent writing and organization skills and strong understanding of media and on-line technologies for advocacy communications. Knowledge of international development, foreign affairs, and Capitol Hill preferred. Proficiency with web-based content management systems, website and blog maintenance a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
