Modern Healthcare is seeking a full-time Event Specialist in its Chicago office. This person will report to the Strategic Marketing Director and will be responsible for the revenue and operational budgets/plans for all events and support for additional marketing programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develops and implements detailed event plans including budget tracking, timeline development, ordering and logistics for all Modern Healthcare events and appearances. Including: conferences, galas, meetings, networking events, trade shows.
• Researches and selects venues, vendors and other resources. Responsible for successfully negotiating expenses and keeping costs down while delivering the highest quality outcomes.
• Collaborates closely with Marketing Director and the Sales team on event sponsorship strategy and revenue generation.
• Responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue goals from attendance at all events.
• Prepares post-event recaps for presentation to sponsors and for use in future planning. In partnership with Marketing Specialist/Director analyze the ROI of the event and assess success of Marketing/Event plans and implications for future productions.
• Continually looks for opportunities to advance Modern Healthcare's event strategy. Identifies opportunities and advances them to management team for consideration. Actively participates in discussions with the management team to clearly identify event goals, target audiences and potential ROI.
• Develops comprehensive tracking system for competitive publications/associations, identifying threats and opportunities for the MH event business and recommends new initiatives/products to gain market share and generate revenue.
• Assists with business development and media relations via event-related trade opportunities, PR and relationships.
• Manages execution and fulfillment of trade agreements in support of event strategy.
• Works in partnership with Marketing and Edit to research and develop content/identify speakers for conferences and virtual events.
• Supports planning, development and execution of webinars and virtual conferences.
• Supports Marketing and Audience Development as needed in execution of promotional communications through the Marketo system.

Ideal candidate must have:
• Bachelor degree in Marketing/Communications/Journalism
• Three to five years of event production and trade show experience, preferably within the healthcare field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Above average level of organization and attention to detail with strong sense of urgency and problem-solving ability to think on his/her feet and offer solutions when faced with challenges
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work under pressure and thrive in a very fast-paced working environment
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
