Job Description

The Public Relations & Writing Specialist will join Gensler's Northeast and Latin America regional PR team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with excellent writing and communication skills. This individual should be passionate about both public relations and design.

In this role you will work closely with the Regional PR Director and New York PR Specialist, and be in charge of the preparation and distribution of press materials, development of messaging, creation of blogs, as well as award submission and speaking engagement content. The individual is also responsible for the management and upkeep of media lists and PR documents. Your focus will be on projects for the New York office, but would also include projects for our regional offices in Toronto, San Jose, Costa Rica, Sao Paulo and Mexico City.

Primary Responsibilities

Public Relations
-Work with Regional PR Director and New York Office PR Specialist on press opportunities and the development of press materials, (press releases, pitches, case stories, fact sheets, messaging).
-Create and maintain media lists
-Develop and collect project materials for pitching needs (case stories, renderings, photography)
-Review monthly publications for opportunities and coordinate with PR team to cultivate unique story ideas
-Work with New York office and regional office leadership on the development of blog posts
-Assist the PR Director with administrative issues and special projects as needed

Speaking Engagements/Awards
-Work with leadership to develop messaging for speaking engagements/conferences in the New York office
-Collaborate with public relations and office marketing teams to prepare and submit award content for the New York office and regional offices
-Assist with preparation and creation of materials for firmwide Gensler meetings

Required Skills
-Software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Cision
-Communications: very strong writing, verbal and interpersonal skills
-Organizational: ability to organize a document and perform well under deadlines
-Teamwork: works well as a member of a team, pitches in to help out others, forward-thinking go-getter. Ability to adapt in dynamic settings.
-Client/customer service: strong understanding of public relations as a service to the office
-Experience: At least 5-6 years of public relations/communications experience. Interest in architecture and design.
-Language: Written/verbal proficiency in Spanish is a plus
