The dominant name in digital radio is searching for a visionary Product Manager to drive their automotive product portfolio. The person who snags this role will be a seasoned, entrepreneurial Product pro with a history of developing suites of innovative consumer-facing products. They’re in hyper-growth mode, and this role is part of a major department expansion. This role can be located in either New York or Los Angeles.

Nitty Gritty
As Product Manager, you’ll be at the helm of this company’s portfolio of automotive products. They have multiple existing products that are among the most popular digital radio apps on the market. You’ll be iterating and improving these, but — and here’s the best part — you’re also going to be building new products.

You’ll keep your finger on the pulse of digital radio trends and identify gaps that can be exploited. Then, you’ll drive product development on multiple platforms to address those gaps. To do this, you’re going to create formal business cases and product descriptions, and work as a facilitator between the internal stakeholders to ensure product policy and processes are negotiated, documented, and
executed accurately.

This role comes with a unique challenge: taking an advanced suite of digital apps and making them work on limited platforms. Each automotive platform has its own set of constraints, so you’ll have your work cut out for you. They need to become the expert in several types of unique hardware and APIs for the automotive industry.

Client management chops are crucial here. You’ll be working with multiple partners, each of whom has their own set of constraints and priorities. Managing all of these and keeping every single client happy is going to be integral to your success.

Once the products are live, it’ll be up to you manage their performance, as well as the product improvement life cycle.

You’ve built loads of popular consumer-facing applications that are as intuitive as they are functional. You understand how to develop products with broad commercial appeal; you can make them simple, attractive, and sticky. You are the kind of product owner who can define, validate, and defend your vision with the best of them. You know why your product is going to be better than the competition and you can clearly articulate why.

You’re equally at home working on existing products as you are developing new ones. You’re passionate about creating exceptional user experiences, and love to gather consumer feedback and use it to inform your product decisions.

Not only do you understand the challenges of working within hardware constraints, you welcome them. Maybe you even spent time building mobile products in the pre-smartphone era. But no matter where you come from, you bring a nuanced understanding of building for APIs and developing products that please a broad raft of clients and partners.
