Are you a news-savvy Product pro? Do you have experience driving strategy and executing the roadmap for consumer-focused media sites? Have you owned everything from revenue to engagement? If so, you might be the next Product Director for a massive national media brand. You’ll need a strong understanding of publishing industry trends and the ability to leverage technology to infuse interactivity, community, and relevance to create exceptional story-telling experiences.

Nitty Gritty
If the prospect of sitting at the intersection of news and pop culture excites you, then this is the gig for you.

As Product Director, you’re going to be driving development of product strategy for consumer-facing news sites. Since you’re going to be designing and executing on the overall roadmap, you’ll start by defining functional and business requirements and use cases. Then you’ll work with the define the customer experience and ensure that all products fulfill business goals while delighting users. Once that’s done, you’ll work with UX, development, project management, sales, and outsourced vendors to ensure successful delivery of these products to market.

You’re going to own engagement here, so be prepared to live in the metrics. The goals are ambitious, but we know you can do it.

This is an Agile shop, so you’ll have to be comfortable with Agile/Scrum methodology and be able to work as both a member and leader of small dev teams.

Oh, one more thing: you’re going to be the CMS product owner, as well. You’ve got CMS chops, right?

You’ve spent several years in product development, working your way up to a leadership role with high visibility and accountability. There are more project release cycles in your career than there are socks in your sock drawer, and you’ve managed logistics and delivery on most of them. You’ve spent plenty of time in news or entertainment media companies, and you have a deep understanding of what drives successful products for that vertical.

You’ve got a proven track record of growing audience engagement for large media properties. You’ve launched signature features or new site sections that have had measurable impact on a content-driven B2C site. You know how to build new products and iterate existing ones that drive user engagement, particularly with digital video content. Your portfolio is filled with innovative products that have driven KPIs for user engagement, and you know the value that a passionate user base presents to advertisers.

You’re a skilled collaborator who is both strategic and detail-oriented, with proven product development and management experience in a consumer-based, digital media company. You’re at home in Agile/Scrum environments, and have a bias for rapid delivery and collaborative execution, and you know how to get both technical and business people to support a transparent product roadmap. You’re also gifted translator, and that gift emerges when you’re working closely with technical leads to deliver the desired business needs.
