We are seeking a National Accounts Manager to manage all aspects of selling Penguin Young Readers products to Barnes & Noble, Inc. The National Accounts Manager will work closely with this key retailer and will coordinate with other in-house departments to develop sales programs, promotions, and author events while increasing the presence of Young Readers products throughout the year. This position will be based in our New York office.

Specifically, the National Accounts Manager will:
1.Establish and maintain a positive and productive relationship with Barnes & Noble.
2.Sell frontlist titles on a monthly basis to all Barnes & Noble channels of distribution (retail and online) and present results in regular sales reports.
3.Perform detailed sales analysis (i.e. forecast demand, track sales, and define opportunities).
4.Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Penguin Young Readers title base and of competitor, consumer, and industry trends.
5.Manage and substantially grow the Penguin Young Readers backlist through consistent and regular backlist analysis and development of backlist programs.
6.Track orders and manage the Barnes & Noble co-op pool.
7.Actively participate in vendor managed inventory system and provide recommendations.
8.Prepare and present seasonal previews.
9.Provide constructive feedback at various in-house meetings with several internal departments.
10.Aid in the development of seasonal plans and promotions of products.

•4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
•Minimum of 3 years of publishing sales experience; experience with children’s book sales is a plus
•Excellent analytical skills
•Superb written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to successfully manage internal and external relationships
•Highly organized and self-motivated
•Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
•Excellent presentation skills
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
•Experience with SAP and/or Business Objects is a plus
