Position Summary: The Communications Director will be responsible for developing and managing PRRI’s overall communications strategy, including marketing and branding strategies for the organization and its research products. The Communications Director will be responsible for increasing PRRI’s visibility and promoting PRRI research among the media, policy-makers, academics, and the general public.Responsibilities:•Develop and implement overall communications strategy to promote PRRI research and increase PRRI brand recognition•Develop digital media strategy and oversee PRRI’s growing online presence•Manage PRRI communications staff•Coordinate communications strategy with external communications consultants•Secure earned media interview opportunities for senior research staff•Draft press releases, pitch stories to national and religious media•Build relationships with reporters, columnists, and producers•Assist with writing and editing research reports, journal articles, and blog postsQualifications:•7-10 years experience in media relations, communications or journalism•Bachelor of Arts in communications, journalism, or related field•Excellent written and oral communication skills•Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational ability•Ideal candidate will be outgoing, assertive, well-organized, and a self-starter•Management experience preferred•Experience using website CMS, social media, and familiarity with survey research a plusAbout Public Religion Research Institute:Public Religion Research Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization specializing in research at the intersection of religion, values, and public life.
