The Chronicle of Higher Education seeks a Director of Marketing Strategy, Hiring Solutions to create best-of-breed marketing strategies that will drive recruitment advertising sales. The Director will arm the sales organization with compelling products (advertising and non-advertising) as well as data-driven sales tools that differentiate Chronicle’s offers in a competitive space. Main responsibilities include developing integrated marketing strategies to drive lead generation and cultivating existing partnerships and client relationships in scalable yet high-touch ways.

The successful candidate will be a strategist with keen critical thinking skills, a mastery of marketing, strategic acumen, and a commitment to creating new possibilities. They should be naturally adaptive with the ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry and lead a team through change.

Other Key Responsibilities:

• Create and oversee execution of a comprehensive marketing plan for Recruitment Advertising based on market requirements and analysis.
• Acquire and transfer knowledge and insights regarding emerging media trends and innovations related to the recruitment market to the rest of the Marketing team, sales and other company stakeholders.
• Work in conjunction with Product Innovation and technology teams to develop strategy for analyzing market demand, identifying and sizing new recruitment market opportunities.
• Own the product roadmap for existing products, including development and implementation strategy, creating deliverables and evaluating product success.
• Work with Managing Director of Recruitment Advertising, Product Innovation team and other members of the Technology department to develop product roadmap for new products and participate in SCRUM process as appropriate.
• Own and manage strategic interactions with the recruitment market sales team and develop a collaborative approach to problem-solving and communication.
• Lead all efforts related to developing strategic selling tools, including strategic messaging and differentiated positioning; and sales training programs.
• Represent marketing in sales engagements such as client meetings, presentations, and industry events.
• Develop processes and tools to seamlessly manage project hand-offs across marketing functions and marketing team members.

•Proven track record in product marketing and ownership, including developing new solutions and evaluating and enhancing existing solutions.
•Experience building creative and effective sales enablement programs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
•Leadership experience in setting, managing and achieving priorities to reinforce a high-performing culture.
•Natural ability to recognize, motivate, and reward direct reports and peers.
•Experience working in a collaborative and deadline driven environment.
•Experience managing simultaneous projects with optimal results.
•Ability to apply sound judgment to leadership and act with incomplete information or ambiguous conditions.
•A naturally adaptive character who thrives in a rapidly evolving industry and can lead his or her team through change.
•Knowledge of higher education/nonprofit sectors is a plus.

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
•Significant on the job training in strategic product oversight, managing multiple priorities, developing processes and systems for operational excellence, and instilling a data-driven approach to product marketing.
