There’s an opening for a reporter to cover Long Island companies. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a beat, cover some of the most dynamic companies and organizations on Long Island, and break news about companies that can be picked up in national business media.

The successful candidate will be a team player and will have a demonstrated ability to cover public and private companies. The ability to use SEC filings and court documents to find and illuminate stories is essential.

This reporter must be able to meet tight deadlines, break news, file quickly and accurately for our daily print editions and our online website Newsday.com and produce high-profile enterprise stories. Finding trends in corporate culture and in data will lead to some stories; other stories will chronicle the dramas going on behind public and private companies’ doors.

An ability to write in an engaging manner for the general reader as well as the business community is essential. Candidates should have at least three years' solid business reporting experience at a medium to large circulation newspaper, business magazine or online organization. Social media skills are a plus.

Please send your resume, a cover letter and at least five samples of your work.
