We are currently looking for a Senior Publicist to join our Children's Book Group!

• Works independently publicizing books and authors, ranging from picture books to Young Adult/Teen.
• Schedules interviews with broadcast, print and online media, developing proper angles and pitches.
• Briefs authors on how to handle interviews.
• Schedules multi-city author tours with bookstore appearances and school events.
• Actively develops and maintains media contacts, including national, regional, local and online.
• Occasionally travels with select authors on tour.
• Writes press releases and pitch letters, and other promotional materials relating to a book’s campaign.
• Works closely with marketing, sales, online marketing, and editorial; attends regular meetings with editorial groups.
• Works closely with the Executive Director on campaign strategies, positioning of a title and effective pitch angles.

• Significant prior work experience in publicity, with an emphasis placed on booking top-line media and author tours
• A proven ability to generate creative news angles
• An ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadline
• Extensive knowledge of the media and a familiarity with book reviewers, magazine editors, and bloggers
• A broad understanding of the digital media space, including bloggers and social media outreach
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
• College-level understanding and use of the English language
• Excellent communication skills, including fluid writing skills
• A college degree (BA or equivalent)
• Interest in children’s books and social media a plus
