Job Description
Brilliance Audio, the audiobook division of Brilliance Publishing (part of the group of companies), is looking for a results-oriented Team Leader to oversee workflow and timely publication of high-quality audiobooks. As the Managing Editor and leader of the Managing Editorial team, you will insist on the highest execution standards as you direct the flow of titles from acquisition through production to publication.

The right candidate will have a passion for scheduling, pub planning, systems reporting, managing and mentoring people, creating and maintaining efficient processes, communication, problem-solving through invention and simplification, and enforcing standards with best practices in all areas.

This position is best suited for a professional who is driven to achieve on-time and accurate completion of tasks with a continuous eye for establishing efficiencies that save time and money for the organization without sacrificing quality. The Managing Editor must be able to monitor and execute the schedules while diplomatically communicating, coordinating, and prioritizing throughout the organization.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the Managing Editorial team for continuous improved efficiency, accuracy, and morale.
• Collaborate with Associate Publisher to create the publishing plan and metrics to help establish editorial strategies and track progress.
• Maintain, update, and communicate the pub plan on an ongoing basis.
• Internally, work with the Acquisitions, Studio, Production, Design, and Sales teams to ensure optimal communication and an efficient audiobook publishing workflow.
• Externally from Brilliance, work with enterprise partners within the Amazon family, as well as distribution partners and licensors, to facilitate smooth integration of titles into our processes.
• Oversee administration functions for: metadata management and accuracy; materials (scripts, cover materials) procurement; proofreading scripts; product and feed copy; solicit reviews and awards for products.
• Become the expert on our processes in order to understand how we can streamline and improve; create and update SOP’s as necessary.
• Organize and manage inter-department meeting schedules, lead meetings, prepare materials, serve as official meeting minute taker.
• Establish protocols for third party title selection and integration.
• Lead proactive problem-solving efforts that result in author happiness.
• Generate metrics reports to track department output, communicate issues outward, and identify problem areas for improvement.
• Manage confidential information regarding company strategies and personnel.

Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a team leader and scheduling manager in the publishing industry.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and complex scheduling systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven track record of on-time publication and 100% accuracy of scheduling reportage.
• Expertise in audiobook and/or book creation workflow.
• Direct, succinct, accurate written and oral communication style.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, ability to invent and simplify.
• Fast learner with technology and new I.T. systems and comfortable training others.
• Solid abilities to multi-task, delegate, and prioritize and guide others do the same.
