Your tasks
Random House Children's Books seeks a Senior Editor to solicit, acquire, evaluate and develop trade books and series, chapter books through YA, for the Random House Books for Young Readers lists.

Responsibilities will include:

? Acquires and edits 14+ new books per year. Focus on middle grade, YA and early chapter books, as well as mining of backlist titles.
? Works with Associate Publishing Director in developing a publishing strategy for middle grade and Young Adult titles on the Random House list.
? Management of 2 direct reports, including one partial assistant.
? Responsible for all editorial aspects of book development, including manuscript development and editing; liaising with art director to provide illustration; copywriting including jacket, catalog, and other marketing copy as required.
? Works closely on series branding with the art department.
? Negotiates acquisitions with agents and authors.
? Maintains publishing/production schedules and meets deadlines.
? Develops and maintains relationships with authors, agents and industry organizations.
? Participates in editorial meetings.
? Presents titles at sales meetings and elsewhere as required.
? Represents imprint at industry conventions.

Our requirements
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years in children's publishing, including demonstrated editorial/acquisition experience. Candidate must have established author/agent contacts. Strong editing skills and creative approach to conceptual packaging are preferable.
