MTV is looking for an enthusiastic, talented, focused, and versatile Editorial Director to transform our college brand, mtvU, into a new multi-platform college editorial network. Our idea candidate will be responsible for overseeing the editorial creation and across all platforms.

This role is responsible for creating the editorial calendar, determining the appropriate voice for the network, updating the social channels and positioning mtvU as a lifestyle authority in the college marketplace.

Below are the specific roles and responsibilities:
•Create and sustain a unique brand voice for the college audience that increases the value of the network and platforms to the college audience, marketplace, affiliates, and partners.
•Develop content/editorial verticals that span the passions of college students, including Music, Pop Culture, Politics, Style, Science, and Fun
•Manage Editorial staff in creating daily content across verticals and distribution across various mtvU Platforms – Linear, Digital, Social, etc.
•Develop and implement a distinctive market position such that network audience can be maximized through advertising and sponsorship sales.
•Create and maintain annual cross-platform editorial schedule and longer range calendar.
•Guide direct reports and manage editorial staff
•Work with sales on proactive pitches for key strategic clients

Basic Requirements:
•Deep grasp of the social space and passion for music, culture, entertainment and youth lifestyle
•5-7 Years of experience in Digital Media
•Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Media Studies or equivalent
•Must be a team player who is able to adapt quickly and carry the site forward
•Experience managing editorial teams and operations

•MA in Journalism or Media Studies
