Position Description:

The Assistant Communications Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day communications, public relations, and marketing efforts for all Mental Health Association of New York City and Link2Health Solutions’ programs. S/he will assist the Communication Director in overseeing the work of the communications team in efforts to increase visibility and awareness of the organization and mission.

Major duties and responsibilities:

- Assist the Communications Director in creating educational and engaging websites, social media campaigns, and marketing materials that are consistent with the agency’s mission.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations, news and entertainment media, government and businesses relevant to program needs.
- Develop an agency-wide style guide and work with communications team to ensure consistency across programs and mediums.
- Create and implement an internal communications strategy to strengthen the external communications of the agency.
- Oversee redesign, optimization, and mobilization of program websites as needed.
- Produce and edit videos for websites.
- Recruit, train, and manage virtual volunteers.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

-- Excellent writing and editing skills
-- Strong interpersonal, relationship development and management skills
-- Significant experience managing multiple social media campaigns and producing videos for web
-- Ability to create partnerships and sustain key relationships with media and mental health professionals
-- Proficient knowledge of CMS, SEO, analytics, social media management tools, the Adobe suite, and HTML/CSS
-- 5-7 years of professional work experience in a web-based new media organization or communications field; editorial and/or public relations experience a plus.
-- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field.
-- Experience in mental health and/or health communications strongly preferred.
