Oversee the Newspaper/ News Content Activation and Investment group for MediaVest across 20 clients with billings of $250-300MM. The Activation Director guides the team in planning and buying of national and local newspaper and news content on all platforms in which news content is distributed on (print- ROP, FSI, etc., digital- including display, e-circulars, etc., mobile, tablet, video, etc.). Director is an already established thought leader in the industry and a true partner in client’s business.

Specific Responsibilities
¨ Manage and mentor an integrated team across clients to develop and activate strategic approach, plans & programs for newspaper & news content (across platform) that deliver on upon client objectives with excellence
¨ Develop marketplace analysis for newspaper/news content landscape and accompanying go-to-market strategy (across platform) for MediaVest and customized by client
¨ Oversee and manage relationship and communication with 3rd party newspaper company partner(s)
¨ Establish and grow strong client, agency (internal/ external), and media partner relationships
¨ Develop and drive new ways of doing business with media partners (re-imagined partnerships)
¨ Lead negotiations and manage/ track financials and negotiation performance for internal reporting purposes
¨ Lead collaboration with appropriate clients, internal parties (strategic planning, research), external agency partners and media partners to achieve integrated marketing solutions and drive innovation on behalf of clients and agency
¨ Demonstrate strong command and application of media research, measurement, data & analytics
¨ Identify and facilitate implementation of opportunities to improve best practices, process and product
¨ Inspire creativity and pro-activity of team
Desired Skills and Experience

Required Skills (the “technical” stuff)
¨ A minimum of 10 years of newspaper/news content planning, negotiation and activation experience
¨ Proven leadership, team management and client service skills
¨ Excellent understanding of media fundamentals and demonstrated experience planning and buying national and local newspaper ROP, FSI’s and digital news content
¨ Must have an intimate knowledge of news content/ newspaper marketplace across all platforms –print/digital/mobile/tablet/content development, etc.
¨ Strong understanding and proven application of content development, data/analytics and digital
¨ Excellent written, verbal, quantitative skills
¨ Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills
¨ Proven success in developing new models of partnership and driving innovation
¨ Strong vendor relationships at senior levels in newspaper/news content space
¨ Ideal candidate would have retail experience (minimum 5 years preferred)
¨ Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
¨ Willing to travel when needed
