We are looking for an assistant editor to join SuperScience, Scholastic's classroom science magazine for grades 3 through 6 (upper elementary school students). The assistant editor will work on all components of the product including the production of engaging feature articles, science news stories, online games, hands-on experiments, assessments, and teaching resources. This is a wonderful opportunity for a science-savvy nonfiction writer to join the world’s largest children’s publisher and make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of students nationwide.Specific responsibilities include:• Collaborate with the Editor to develop highly engaging nonfiction texts and editorial assets including feature articles, news shorts, games, quizzes, and activities covering a range of curriculum-based science topics for grades 3-6• Research and pitch story ideas• Write hands-on experiments and attend photo shoots• Produce assets for the SuperScience website and digital edition • Review and proofread layoutsQualifications• B.S. or B.A. required.
