Coordinator, Media RelationsThe U.S. Travel Association seeks an effective, creative and energetic communicator to help raise the media visibility of the $2.0 trillion travel industry. Recently ranked Washington, D.C.'s No. 1 most effective trade and professional association in the areas of media relations, industry reputation stewardship and bipartisanship (and in the top four overall), U.S. Travel seeks staff resources who are committed to creating excellent work and contributing to a positive workplace culture.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist VP of Communications and Director of Strategic Communications in generating press coverage of the association and its initiativesAssume primary responsibility for engaging national press via social media, including researching new social media opportunities and tracking statistics for department's social media accountsAssist with responding to media requests in a timely mannerCollaborate with staff regarding the coordination of conferences, meetings, and other events where media is involvedCreate, edit and maintain media contact databases for the teamMonitor daily headlines and clipsVarious other administrative tasks as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor's degreeA minimum of three years' experience in communications, media and/or public relations, preferably in a political, association or corporate settingDemonstrated proficiency using social media platforms (Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook) in a professional settingExcellent ability to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environmentExcellent writing and proofreading skillsAbility to handle tight deadlines, multitask and problem solveProficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Strong working knowledge of U.S. political process and legacy media desiredBackground in and/or knowledge of travel and hospitality industry a plusU.S. Travel Association offers competitive salary and benefits package, plus the opportunity to work for a leading American industry.
