The U.S. Travel Association seeks an effective, creative and energetic communicator to help raise the media visibility of the $2.0 trillion travel industry. Job Responsibilities

Assist VP of Communications and Director of Strategic Communications in generating press coverage of the association and its initiatives

Assume primary responsibility for engaging national press via social media, including researching new social media opportunities and tracking statistics for department's social media accounts

Assist with responding to media requests in a timely manner

Collaborate with staff regarding the coordination of conferences, meetings, and other events where media is involved

Create, edit and maintain media contact databases for the team

Monitor daily headlines and clips

Various other administrative tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

A minimum of three years' experience in communications, media and/or public relations, preferably in a political, association or corporate setting

Demonstrated proficiency using social media platforms (Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook) in a professional setting

Excellent ability to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment

Excellent writing and proofreading skills

Ability to handle tight deadlines, multitask and problem solve

Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Strong working knowledge of U.S. political process and legacy media desired

Background in and/or knowledge of travel and hospitality industry a plus
