LID Publishing seeks a dynamic Business Development Manager to develop new business opportunities and publishing projects. Primary responsibilities:

• Meet and pitch projects to high-level directors and executive managers, with a view to identifying their organization’s communications needs, and creating and offering creative solutions to promote themselves.
• Seek sponsors for publications and other LID products.
• Make sales of existing LID publications/products by creating custom versions to meet the client’s needs.
• Make sales of speakers to organizations and conference organizers.
• Network extensively and build relationships in order to succeed in this role.

This is a face-to-face selling role, but outreach via telephone and email will be required to develop new business leads and make appointments.


• 2+ years of experience in one of these areas: business development for a publisher or for a professional services firm; advertising sales; sponsorship generation; account management for a corporate communications or branding agency; relationship/wealth management for a bank; acquisitions editor for a business or professional publisher; or similar areas.
• BA or BS
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong consultative selling skills
• Flexible and creative thinker who can develop custom communication solutions for clients
• Self-starter and able to work independently.
• Strong organizational skills and excellent research abilities.
• Skilled with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Interest in and follower of business trends/issues.
