Bloomberg Businessweek is seeking a highly motivated, creative and enthusiastic communications/ media relations professional to join the team that promotes Bloomberg Businessweek,, and related digital properties. The position will be based at Bloomberg LP's New York headquarters under the larger banner of communications for Bloomberg News, the leading global business and financial news organization. The position reports directly to the head of global communications for Bloomberg Businessweek.

Candidates should have a minimum of five to seven years of work experience in media relations and corporate communications. The ideal candidate will have held a PR position at a national news outlet, working directly with reporters, and preference will be given to those with similar magazine and digital experience. This individual will need to have a firm understanding of business, finance, politics, and technology news, and have demonstrated success promoting news content, journalists, editors, and executives across print, digital, online, social and broadcast media.

The role centers on helping to develop and execute a global communications strategy for Bloomberg Businessweek that will raise the visibility and influence of this exciting brand. The candidate should possess the skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and the confidence to produce results quickly and independently under pressure. This professional will have extensive relationships with print, online, digital and broadcast media outlets, as well as trade reporters. He/she will also have excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal skills, and experience working with top newsroom editors and C-suite executives. The ability to plan and manage large-scale events is a plus.

Day-to-day duties include the execution of traditional communications activities such as: writing pitch letters, media alerts, and press releases; handling routine media inquiries; proactively securing interviews for key editors and writers, media coverage of magazine and content, and stories in the trade press about the brand's momentum; monitoring press coverage and compiling tracking reports; developing and maintaining media lists; and preparing and updating Bloomberg Businessweek fact sheets and briefing materials.

- Minimum of 5 years in communications, public relations, or media relations either in-house or at an agency
- Solid relationships with external media contacts
- A strong knowledge of U.S. news media outlets, their audiences and reach; familiarity with international media landscape is helpful
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills
- Self-motivated and detail-orientated, capable of managing multiple tasks in a timely manner, while responding to intermittent internal and external requests
- Capacity to organize and prioritize work under pressure
- Ability to work with detailed and confidential information
