The Chronicle of Higher Education is seeking a Manager of Marketing Programs for Vitae, a new start-up, created and backed by The Chronicle of Higher Education. The Manager of Marketing Programs will be responsible for envisioning, developing, executing, and maintaining marketing programs to acquire Vitae community members in the most efficient manner possible. This individual will bring a passion for creating grassroots initiatives that drive buzz and fuel user adoption across organizations. H/She will demonstrate knowledge of how and why things go viral and applying their knowledge to drive measurable results.

S/he will manage a range of marketing activities such as developing, executing, and managing on-campus events and programs; managing the day to day aspects of partnerships and coalitions; and developing and managing integrated marketing campaigns to promote programs, including email campaigns via Eloqua.

Job responsibilities include:

•Grassroots audience development
oWork with internal stakeholders to identify top priority target audiences.
oIdentify appropriate contacts for programs, conduct initial outreach and maintain contact lists in Eloqua.
•Referral and incentive programs
oUnderstand target personas to develop programs that address their interests, motivations, and professional goals.
oReduce cost per user acquisition through referral programs and viral marketing initiatives that create word of mouth buzz that fuel adoption
•Special Programs and On Campus Events
oCreate scalable and repeatable programs and grassroots initiatives for acquiring and retaining online community members.
oDevelop and execute custom on campusevents that drive participation in and enthusiasm for Vitae
oTravel to campuses and events across the country to acquire community users.
•Coalitions and Partnerships
oDevelop and manage a robust content API partner program that allows for the broadest possible dissemination of community content.
oMaintain day-to-day and operational relationships with partners and coalition members.
•Integrated Marketing Campaigns
oDevelop and execute integrated campaigns to promote programs and drive user sign-ups.
oManage email campaign set up, execution and tracking via Eloqua.

•Eloqua or Marketo experience a plus; tech savvy and a quick learner a must.
•Strong creative problem-solving, strategic, and critical thinking skills.
•Proven track record in developing creative user acquisition programs.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Experience working in a collaborative and deadline driven environment.
•Experience managing simultaneous projects with optimal results.
•Ability to apply sound judgment to leadership and act with incomplete information or ambiguous conditions.
•Knowledge of digital marketing and working with digital media assets.
•Basic knowledge of web analytics.Knowledge of higher education/nonprofit and media sectors is a plus.

Education & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree required. MBA a plus.
•Significant on the job training in managing multiple priorities, developing processes and systems for operational excellence, and instilling a data-driven approach to product marketing.
•Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience with a track record of driving user adoption.
•Experience building, engaging, and retaining thriving online communities a plus
•Experience marketing through social media a plus.
•Experience creating and implementing grassroots programs and events a plus.
