Specific responsibilities for the Senior Communication Specialist will include:

•Providing leadership and technical guidance to establish a project “communication and product development plan”, which will include target audiences, formats, dissemination channels, and content.
•Provide technical guidance on synthesizing and translating evidence on family planning and related reproductive health services for use by global and national policymakers and program managers, and where appropriate by national media.
•Document and share robust experiential knowledge and practice from FP programs
•Assist with production of syntheses and case studies of priority research in high-impact family planning practices.
•Contribute to writing selected publications, web content, or tools for global and country-level audiences including gathering literature, interpreting research findings, and explaining policy implications.
•Participate in developing innovative ways to communicate information to a range of audiences using new technologies and interactive tools such as animated infographics, interactive maps, or other data visualization software.
•Plan and organize events highlighting emerging evidence for high-impact practices in family planning and reproductive health services.
•Develop and coordinate innovative models for rapid and effective knowledge exchange with management outlets to increase uptake of best practices through a wide range of communication channels, including social media , and more traditional channels of communication.Design and implement strategies for engaging individuals in interactive exchange platforms (online discussions,webinars, etc.)
•Assist with monitoring and documenting dissemination and information use outcomes and impacts.

Qualifications
•Advanced degree (master’s) in public health, communications, social sciences, or other related field.
•At least 10 years’ experience working in communications with a strong substantive background in family planning, reproductive health, maternal and child health, or related fields.
•Five+ years’ experience working with international agencies and institutions in developing countries.
•Experience with synthesizing, packaging, and disseminating data and research findings for technical and non-technical audiences, and with the design and implementation of results-oriented communication strategies.
•An ability to work independently as well as to work effectively in teams and with professionals at different levels, including with colleagues, partners, and donor organizations.
•Outstanding English writing skills and oral communication skills are essential; proficiency in French an advantage.
