We are seeking a Product Designer in our Global Education group for our corporate headquarters based in Hoboken, NJ two blocks from the train station. The Product Designer conceptualizes digital product designs that help teachers teach and students learn – and contributes to better-than-industry-average growth rates in revenues, profits, cash flow, and return on investment. The Product Designer is part of the editorial team and works closely with the acquisitions editors and authors to conceive of and execute on innovative digital course solutions in the areas of biology, geography, geology and environmental science. The Product Designer is responsible for all aspects of the digital course design workflow, including competitive analysis, customer interaction, product development, market research/testing, proof of concept, prototyping, and execution, all within a predetermined budget and schedule. This position is responsible for creating detailed design plans for the complete course solution - communicating design intentions using current design tools and processes, and making sure that all design decisions adhere to current learning design parameters and make best use of existing application functionalities. This further entails establishing best practices for the product teams and authors that emphasize planning and developing digital content at the first stage of product development.

The Product Designer demonstrates a market-driven approach in working with team members on market research and market development activities with the goal of developing market driven digital course solutions that help us achieve our mission of helping teachers teach and students learn. The Product Designer collaborates with Acquisitions and Marketing through project signing, market development and product launch to ensure sales goals are met, and also advocates for discipline-specific functionality as needed.

The successful candidate will have:
*A Bachelor’s degree, but more ideally an advanced degree within the sciences or equivalent work experience
*Experience working with, developing, or contributing to educational technology or digital instructional design.
*Teaching experience preferred
*Experience in vendor and project management preferred
* Knowledge of and expertise in working with proprietary and commercial digital tools and platforms, including but not limited to audio, video, Flash, apps, FTP, mind maps, social media, cloud computing and storage, mobile computing devices, and the Adobe suite of art and file management tools
*Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize
*Strong communication and leadership skills
