Digital Editor / Web Editor
Westchester Magazine is seeking a highly-motivated, highly-skilled new or recent college grad to join its editorial team as a digital editor. Under the direction of the managing editor (this is a junior/entry-level position), the digital editor will be responsible for web and social media content and operations for Westchester Magazine and its three ancillary publications. Primary responsibilities include:•pitching, reporting, and writing original content for the website, and scheduling, editing, and trafficking other web exclusives •adjusting the content and its placement on the site in response to realtime analytics•monitoring the website for quality control—correcting links, typos, formatting errors, removing out-of-date content•maintaining the magazines’ online resource guides—writing new listings and updating existing listings as needed•managing the magazines’ social media accounts •editing, trafficking, and contributing to the magazines' blogs and e-newsletters•writing intro and display copy for the websites’ landing pages•implementing SEO practices for all digital contentDesired Skills: •an impeccable command of the English language—proper mechanics, grammar, and syntax should be second nature•solid digital writing and editing skills, and a sharp eye for proofreading and catching mistakes•excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills, with the ability to be a team player while still working autonomously•familiarity with SEO tactics, HTML, and use of CMS•social media savvy, with the skills and understanding necessary to successfully engage an upscale, sophisticated audience and grow an online following across multiple social media platforms•thorough knowledge of and familiarity with Westchester CountyTo be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Westchester native and/or a current Westchester resident with significant knowledge of and familiarity with the county.Candidates should submit a brief cover letter, resume, relevant writing samples, and salary requirements.NO phone calls.
