Professional Photographers of America seeks an experienced editor for a full-time position on the staff of its award-winning member magazine, Professional Photographer. Position Overview:The Associate Editor’s work is split evenly between writing and editing for Professional Photographer magazine and ppmag.com.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:•The Associate Editor helps maintain the overall editorial quality of Professional Photographer magazine and ppmag.com.•Recurring monthly writing duties include Contact Sheet news, splash pages, and Folio department. Occasional feature articles will be assigned. Duties involved in writing include background research, telephone interviews, obtaining images for publication, interfacing with PPA staff, members, and others in the photography industry.•Recurring monthly editing duties include substantive editing of all feature articles, columns, and news plus copyediting/proofreading, and fact-checking all magazine content.•The Associate Editor is an integral part of the Publications Department, working with the Director of Publications, Senior Editor, and Art Director to plan editorial, formulate story ideas, and continuously improve the quality of PPA member communications.•Performs other duties as assigned.Required Experience and Qualifications:This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of substantive editing, writing, and copyediting experience in periodicals.
