Qualifications: -8 to 10 years experience working in a news room and on story development
-7+ years experience in management of staff
-5 to 7 years field-based experience including field and package producing
-Strong editing skills
-Able to lead and motivate a diverse group of individuals, often under the stress of breaking news
-Able to communicate clearly and concisely about news developments; able to clearly instruct staff/network about course of action
-BA/BS in Journalism, Television/Filim Production, Communications or related discipline

Duties: The Regional Newsgathering Director will be responsible for coordinating daily regional news coverage, under the guidance of the Regional Bureau Chief. They oversee several senior-level producers throughout bureaus in the region. The Director provides front-line editorial guidance to the show EPs, platforms and field personnel, concentrating on making certain all needs are adequately accommodated. They work closely with platform leads to ensure best possible coverage and usage of content. Helps frame the presentation of regional news in its initial phases concentrating on making sure each news piece is being approached with balance and good storytelling elements and structure.

The Newsgathering Director serves as the hands-on, day-to-day, editorial leader for the region. This position is responsible for setting the resources in motion each day to support the programming of the network and to make sure the various platforms get the most up-to-date editorial information. Will oversee Regional Planning Manager and story development efforts.
