Director of Communications & Culture
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Communications:•Manage the Communications team, including external public relations strategists, consultants and writers, to develop and implement a robust public relations plan designed to shift the mainstream media narrative around aging, multigenerational relationships and long-term care.•Manage press monitoring to identify and move on rapid response earned media opportunities that advance the campaign and its principles. •Manage internal campaign communications, reporting on campaign activity to media, culture, field and policy partners.•Develop and update communications materials for media, culture, field and policy activities. •Coordinate spokesperson trainings for campaign allies, including celebrity ambassadors.Culture Change:•Manage the Culture Change team, including external culture change strategists, consultants and producers, to develop and implement a multi-faceted plan that leverages pop culture storytelling to shift how Americans think and feel about aging, multigenerational families and long-term care. •Cultivate and manage partnerships with high-level leaders within the creative, entertainment and mainstream media sectors. •Cultivate and manage partnerships with local artists and cultural organizations to support culture change activities conducted by field partners.•Oversee the culture change production calendar, including oversight of all strategy and production firms and production timelines.•Facilitate the integration of culture change strategy and methodology across all areas of campaign activity, including local/field initiatives. Qualifications and Required Skills•A commitment to the Caring Across Generations mission as a path toward progressive change.•5+ years experience leading and working within a team on a national media campaign (organization- or agency-based) with mainstream/pop culture reach. •Proven success engaging the mainstream media around issues of social change strongly preferred.•Experience with mainstream and issue-based public relations, advertising, cause-marketing and culture change strategy strongly preferred•Experience using pop culture storytelling to increase public interest and investment in a social issue preferred.•Experience collaborating with artists and creative producers preferred. •Experience interacting with high profile public figures preferred.•Experience in communicating with multigenerational audiences preferred.•Excellent project/team management, time management, strategic planning, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work productively within an energetic team of strategists and organizers.•Fluency in verbal and written English essential; fluency in other languages a plus (particularly Spanish).Salary & Benefits: Caring Across Generations operates under the fiscal sponsorship of Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.Location: New York City; domestic travel, particularly to Los Angeles, requiredWomen, People of Color, people with disabilities and LGBQT people strongly urged to apply.How to apply: Applications will only be accepted electronically.
