6-Month Temporary Position

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East and the United States, is seeking an Engagement Manager to transform the organization’s email-based marketing and promotion practices in order to develop and implement a cutting-edge approach to engaging global contacts. Position will analyze how Carnegie communicates with all of its contacts in its institutional database and develop a better system for fostering engagement. This will include welcome emails for new contacts, trigger campaigns, surveys on email preferences and event/content feedback, methods to improve information on users’ interests (web forms, etc.), and detailed analytics to develop best practices and rules for the quantity, timing, and type of emails received by different contacts. Additionally, the Engagement Manager will be responsible for Carnegie’s marketing emails (particularly publication announcements and event invitations), using A/B testing to increase open rates and advise future campaigns.

Ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented communications professional with a proven track record in improving email open and clickthrough rates, driving web traffic, using analytics to inform strategy, increasing engagement, and developing systems to build and retain active audiences. Minimum three years’ experience in email marketing, databases, and contact conversion required. In-depth understanding of CRM (Microsoft CRM preferred), email service providers, and analytics essential. Excellent ability to manage multiple projects and distill data into easily understood prose. Energetic personality with strong interpersonal skills who will thrive in a team environment. This is a six-month position will some benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.
