Huffington Post Impact has an immediate opening for an editorial fellow who will focus primarily on social media, along with writing and researching. The section is dedicated to covering humanitarian issues and causes, and its cornerstones include crucial domestic and global issues such as poverty, global health crises and education inequality. Candidates should have a general understanding of the socioeconomic and geopolitical backdrop for these issues, as well as a passion for writing about their solutions. Additionally, our ideal fellow should have a soft spot for viral stories that will make us go "Aww."

Applicants should be ambitious self-starters eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, fun environment. We are looking for go-getter news and Internet junkies. Do you consume the majority of your news digitally? Are you the person who has a new viral video before everyone else? Are you obsessive about social media? Then you might be a perfect fit for the Huffington Post.


- Aiding in managing Facebook and Twitter accounts
- Pitching and producing shareable content for a social media audience
- Monitoring breaking news and identifying viral stories
- Pitching unique ways of packaging stories and video
- Writing clever sharable headlines
- Researching, writing, fact-checking
- Administrative tasks

Requirements for success:

- Bachelor's degree
- Previous journalism experience
- Demonstrated interest in social change and humanitarian news
- A voice and a point of view!
- Insatiable appetite for news and information
- Strong research and writing skills
- Enamored with the power and influence of social media
- Creativity and confidence to share your unique perspective and ideas
- Ability to receive constructive criticism professionally, and quickly apply the feedback
- A demonstrated excitement about HuffPost’s editorial mission

Please have a knack for:

- Being as accurate as you are fast
- Multitasking in a way that can make your head spin at times
- Pitching ideas and not waiting for assignments to be handed down
- Thinking outside the box at all times

The HuffPost Fellowship usually lasts four to six months at 40 hours a week, giving our Fellows the opportunity to discover whether HuffPost is the right place to launch their career. This is a paid program based in AOL’s New York office in Greenwich Village.
