WHYY seeks an experienced broadcast news anchor with a warm, personable, and professional on-air style for the position of Morning Edition Host. This position will anchor newscasts and local breaks, conduct interviews, and produce segments for WHYY’s flagship news program. Other major duties of this position include participating in fundraising efforts and special events as a representative of the organization; developing and maintaining a social media presence in order to engage the audience and promote the station and program; and working with the news staff to reinforce and help execute the vision for the show set by the director of news. Candidates must have at least three years of experience as an on-air broadcast anchor. This position requires the ability to anchor a broadcast while operating an audio console without a studio engineer present, to produce segments with audio editing software, and to engage the audience through social media. The ideal candidate must have excellent news judgment in order to identify which breaking stories to cover independently and which require the mobilization of another member of the WHYY news department; the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented department; and skilled professionalism, in order to keep mistakes from reaching the air and to react to changes in breaking stories as they occur. All candidates must have the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and to work overtime as necessary to complete projects. This position requires the ability to consistently perform at a high level during early morning hours, reporting daily at 4:00-4:30am.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume as one document when applying.
