Communications Director - The Atlantic
The Communications Director will be responsible for all aspects of media relations for The Atlantic’s press and public relations efforts, developing and executing a communications strategy for the brand across its print, digital, and live event platforms, including The Wire and Atlantic Cities. We are seeking someone with a deep knowledge of the media industry who is energetic, creative, and entrepreneurial. Candidates should have 5-10 years’ worth of PR experience and bring excellent writing skills; experience pitching broadcast, radio, print, and digital outlets; a deep understanding of the social web and digital platforms; and a love of news and storytelling to the position. Responsibilities Include:•Proactively publicizing the brand’s editorial content, product launches, conferences, advertising-related news.•Securing coverage in consumer and trade press, including television (network and cable), radio (national and regional), print, and digital outlets.•Developing and implementing short- and long-term media plans for The Atlantic and its related properties.•The successful candidate for this position will report to Atlantic Media’s Vice President, Global Communications, Emily Lenzner.Core Attributes:•Force of Ideas -- At the center of Atlantic Media work are the ideas within our writing.
