Fodor's Travel seeks an experienced publicist to join their team to promote their award-winning print guidebooks, ebooks, mobile apps and website. Working with the Senior Publicist, the candidate will help develop communication strategy and goals for the Fodor's brand, pitch Fodor's editors as travel experts to a variety of media, as well as launch major editorial projects such as the Fodor's 100 Hotel Awards and annual Go List. A love for travel, curiosity about the world and the ability to think outside the box are essential.

Responsibilities include:

-Actively brainstorm timely travel pitches including expert tips and feature interviews
-Compose press releases and pitch letters
-Secure quality media placements that raise awareness of the Fodor?s brand
-Build and maintain relationships with key travel and lifestyle media
-Create and maintain media lists
-Liaise with Fodor?s editorial team to adapt editorial priorities for PR initiatives
-Research and develop talking points & visuals for interviews with Fodor?s spokespersons
-Monitor and report on media coverage to key stakeholders, including senior management, editorial and sales
-Stay up to date on industry news and trends, as well as the competitive landscape
-Coordinate with Social Media Manager to incorporate PR into social media strategy
-Prepare awards submissions as appropriate
-Identify and pitch speaking opportunities at conferences and events

The publicist will work as part of a 4-person publicity department that works closely together to represent Penguin Random House Audio, Living Language and Random House Reference in addition to Fodor's Travel.

Our requirements

The ideal candidate will have must have:

-3-5 years experience in travel/tourism PR
-Established national and local print, web and broadcast media contacts within the travel and lifestyle sphere
-Demonstrated record of media placements for your client(s)
-Excellent writing skills
-Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize
-Familiarity with industry-appropriate bloggers and social media influencers
-Excellent presentation, verbal, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
-And of course, a love for travel!

Media training and spokesperson development experience is a plus.
