JOB DUTIES: KWQC’s News Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating the news
staff, and all their activities, in a manner that produces quality, relevant content for Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa. By employing all available resources, the News Director makes sure content is delivered to our community, across multiple platforms, in the most timely, efficient and cost effective manner possible.

The ideal candidate will have:
•A proven record of success in the management, production and distribution of local news
•Strong leadership skills and excellent news judgment
•A successful track record employing multi-media digital assets in how news is covered and distributed
•A passion for production and storytelling, combined with an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and standards
•A community minded spirit combined with a vision on how to expand the stations outreach through its coverage of the events that are impactful to the complete spectrum of our community

Candidates need to have the ability to teach and lead by example while using the latest technology.

The News Director is a Department Head position, and part of KWQC’s Executive Team, reporting directly to the station VP/General Manager. Experience working with departmental budgets is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants should have a Broadcast Journalism or Communications degree from an accredited four-year College, University or equivalent experience and a minimum of five years in news management experience as well as a deep understanding of news in the digital world.
