Your tasks
Reporting to the Vice President, Director of Business Operations, provides support analyzing the performance of three divisions within The Crown Publishing Group. Also acts as the liaison between the Publishing Division and Corporate Accounting.

Responsibilities & Duties:
?Assists the VP, Director of Business Operations with the preparation of the annual budget and three subsequent forecasts
?Prepares business review packages summarizing the budget and forecasts that are used in presentations to upper management
?Updates the corporate budgeting system (Hyperion) with the budget and forecasts
?Manages monthly financial closings, including detailed analyses of sales, cost of goods sold, and operating expenses
?Creates monthly financial summaries for key managers in the division, including written commentaries on the month?s results
?Provides and interprets information on sales, advances, write-offs, marketing spending and other aspects of the business, via both physical reports and orally
?Assists editorial staff in preparing and understanding title P&L?s to make informed acquisition decisions
?Prepares post-publication P&L?s to assess the performance of published titles, communicating results to imprint editors and publishers
?Prepares P&L?s to determine the profitability of reprints and the impact of specification changes
?Builds financial models that provide solutions to business and operational challenges
?Provides recommendations for innovations and efficiencies that result positively on the group?s results
?Works on special projects (for example, backlist reviews, analysis of the e-book marketplace, customer analysis, Power Point presentations)
?Serves as first business operations point of contact to answer division employees questions, provide explanations, and investigate problems as needed


Our requirements
?4 ? 6 years relevant experience in a financial environment
?Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance (but will consider candidates from other degree backgrounds with relevant experience)
?Highly computer literate, especially in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, linked files, pivot tables, etc.)
?Proven ability to work with financial reporting, data warehouse and budgeting systems (SAP, Business Objects, Hyperion a plus)
?Strong interpersonal and communication skills
?Strong organizational and analytical skills
?Ability to manage and prioritize projects across multiple departments
?Attention to detail combined with an ability to see the big picture
?Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as a part of a team
?Publishing/media experience a plus
?Interest in books a plus
