The Technical Designer takes direction from the Senior Technical Designer and Tech Director to execute fit comments for the assigned product category. Manages the sample development process and is responsible for generating computerized specification packages and maintaining them through fit approval. Collaborates with production, product development, design and merchandising to ensure the quality, delivery and business practices are achieved and upheld. Demonstrates the company’s Values & Practices by maintaining effective collaborative relationships, taking pride in the company and brand, and embracing diversity.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities

· Protects brand integrity through fit continuity, upholding construction standards and consistency.

· Captures team feedback during fittings and is responsible for the execution of the fit comments accordingly. (In the absence of the Tech Director or Senior Tech, the Technical Designer is responsible for conducting the fittings for their assigned product category and processing the fit comments accordingly).

· Follows up on e-mails from the overseas office regarding comments on fit.

· Partners up with QA during the Pre-Pro Sample Process for their assigned product category.

· Recommends and implements new procedures and technology.

· Adheres to cross-functional calendar.

· Assures seasonal deadlines are met for assigned areas.

· Attends department meetings, post line review CFT recaps, weekly CFT meetings, weekly development meetings, style fits.
· People Management

-Builds collaborative relationships with internal clients and overseas offices.

-Interfaces professionally and works effectively in group settings.

-Develops the Assistant Technical Designer.

Position Requirements

· Bachelors Degree, in a related field of study, or equivalent functional experience

· 5-8 Years experience in technical design and/or patternmaking

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Detail oriented, with strong organizational capabilities

· Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and divisions

· Knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods

· Ability to problem solve flexible/adaptable in a fast paced environment

· Strong Computer knowledge (PDM, Karat, Excel) and a drawing program (Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel, etc.)
