Job Description

As a marketing manager, you’ll join a small but fast-paced marketing team with a scrappy attitude and a love for the creative process. You will play an integral role in developing and executing marketing strategies, promotions, and programs for The Atlantic magazine and The position combines big-idea creation, proposal writing, and program execution. The position will report to the Executive Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities Include:

•Create big, innovative, multi-platform ideas that move our clients and industry forward—and include print, online, social, mobile, app, and other emerging media elements
•Develop “native advertising” strategies that leverage editorial, branded content, and partnership opportunities
•Write beautiful, compelling, persuasive proposals that convey complex ideas in simple ways
•Successfully manage integrated program execution, including timelines and budgets, from activation to recap
•Manage all social media for marketing initiatives, including scheduling, trafficking, client approvals, and copywriting

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

•Exceptional writing skills coupled with a creative, unconventional mind
•Knowledge of and passion for digital media space, along with an understanding of key trends like native advertising, branded content, and content marketing
•2+ years of related experience (digital/social experience preferred)
•The ability to make decisions in real-time with maturity, poise, and “grace under pressure”
•Strong organizational skills
•Ability to work closely with a variety of internal constituencies, as well as interface with clients and other external colleagues (e.g., vendors, agency contacts, partners)
•Graphic design and web design (basic HTML) skills and some familiarity with relevant design software a plus (Photoshop, DreamWeaver or InDesign, etc)
•Outstanding record of academic and professional achievement
•Bachelor’s degree
