Workman Publishing is looking for a junior designer/developer to join its print promotion and digital marketing department. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver with strong typography capabilities, and digital skills that include a working knowledge of HTML and CSS. Working alongside a senior designer and art director, you will be responsible for: 1. Creating traditional print-based promotion pieces in a range of formats and sizes, from posters and banners to sell sheets and the like. Should be competent at design and layout of multipage documents, and be able to handle prepress preparation and troubleshooting. Should be able to design compelling pieces that complement and match Workman's many and varied book styles. And 2. Designing and programming digital materials, from animated gifs for advertisements to static images for media outlets. Other digital work includes creating ebook covers; designing, building, updating, troubleshooting, and sending email newsletters using MailChimp; and managing video content, with occasional need to convert/rip/edit video. Qualified candidates should have • a minimum of 3 years' ad promo design experience• great communication skills• organizational and time management skills to prioritize a wide-range of projects. • attention to detail in a fast paced environment • ability to build and work collaboratively • a passion for books!
